Gothic architecture is an architectural style that is an evolution of Romanesque architecture and predates Renaissance architecture. It began in northern France between 1050 and 1100, originally called the "French Work" (Opus Francigenum), although Dublin Cathedral, Ireland, founded in 1030, can already be classified as Pre-Gothic.
