Romulus and Remus are twin brothers who, according to Roman mythology, are directly linked to the foundation of Rome, with Romulus specifically being the founder of the city. According to legend, sons of King Mars and Rhea, the brothers were thrown into a river to drown. According to the myth, the brothers were later taken in by the wolf Luperca and, when they grew up, founded Rome, although Remus did not live to see the rise of the city, as he was murdered by his brother shortly after the establishment of the city.
