In today's Gospel, John 1:19-28, the figure of John the Baptist stands out. According to Isaiah's prophecy, John withdrew into the Judean desert and with his preaching invited the people to convert to prepare for the imminent coming of the Messiah. John the Baptist was a great prophet, who preached the gospel, warning everyone of his time about the conversion of sins. Being killed for an act of revenge, he was still recognized as a holy man in his time and, even today, is one of the biggest names in Christian belief.
