Pin FAQ

known as Ibn Sīnā or by his Latinized name Avicenna, was a Persian polymath who wrote treatises on a wide range of subjects, of which approximately 240 have survived to our days. In particular, 150 of these treatises focus on philosophy and 40 on medicine. A man of science and philosophy, Avicenna, as he became known in the West, lived 57 years (between 980 and 1037), in the heart of the Persian Empire. And he went down in history as the wise man who compiled, for the first time, the essential medical and pharmacological knowledge to interpret and be more effective in combating the disease. Avicena
