Hamadan, Iran, 1037), known as Ibn Sīnā or by his Latinized name Avicenna, was a Persian polymath who wrote treatises on a wide range of subjects, of which approximately 240 have survived to our days. In particular, 150 of these treatises focus on philosophy and 40 on medicine and he was the most famous physician of antiquity considering the period from the Roman Empire to the 16th century. Known in the West by its Latin name, AVICENA, he was acclaimed not only in the Islamic world but also in Europe for his knowledge in Medicine, Philosophy, Literature and other arts.
